Oaklee Chief Executive Sharon Cosgrove took part in the Housing Ireland Conference 2026 at Croke Park this morning, joining sector leaders to examine how Ireland can overcome the barriers to delivering homes at scale. The session, “Overcoming the Barriers to Housing Supply and Delivery at Scale,” explored delivery challenges across planning, funding, viability, capacity and the wider housing system.
During the panel, Sharon emphasised Oaklee’s mission to deliver homes to build futures in, highlighting that the core purpose of AHB delivery is to ensure people and communities can live, thrive and prosper. She noted that while homes are being delivered, the process surrounding delivery remains fragmented, with delays arising across planning, approvals, funding and the move‑in stage.
Sharon outlined that AHBs, particularly members of the Housing Alliance, share a common experience of these system pressures, and that strong, aligned partnerships with all delivery partners are essential. She stressed that the most successful outcomes occur when AHBs are engaged early, where expectations are clear, and when issues are resolved collaboratively rather than sequentially.
She also spoke about the importance of predictable planning and funding frameworks, the need for greater strategic alignment between AHBs and local authorities, and the role of coordinated investment in skills and capacity across the sector.
Throughout the discussion, Sharon reaffirmed Oaklee’s commitment to scaling with purpose, ensuring that each home delivered contributes to stronger, more sustainable and inclusive communities.
Oaklee was pleased to take part in this year’s conference and contribute to a constructive national dialogue on how Ireland can accelerate housing delivery while protecting quality and improving long‑term outcomes for communities.
